ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC - TEST BASE

Description: This is a Santa Cruz Facility position:

Determine and devise methods, operations and sequences and accomplish the appropriate setup of equipment and test specimens to perform tests and obtain, and prepare test data on any item or system ranging from small operating mechanisms and materials to complete systems.

Work to oral or written test requirements and engineering information; apply a knowledge of the equipment characteristics and capabilities, and accepted laboratory and shop practices.

Troubleshot and repair special test consoles (excluding individual units/components which have an established calibration status). Select, develop, improvise, prepare, operate and fabricate test aids, fixtures, monitoring devices, specialized apparatus and similar items required to completely setup for conducting and monitor tests to evaluate test hardware.

Operate equipment to simulate ground handling and flight conditions. Troubleshoot test setups and instrumentation involved in tests and correct malfunctions or advise supervision where problems are encountered.
Operate digital data acquisition and control equipment where operational software is available.

Provide assistance to engineering personnel when required in developing new software.Record data in accordance with prescribed requirement, participate in evaluation of data as required. Use all tools, equipment and materials necessary to accomplish the above duties.
Desired Skills: Lays out, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems, such as computer equipment, missile control instrumentation, test equipment, applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Typically requires completion of a two-year program in electronics technology presented by junior colleges and technical institutes
