Seeking an experienced design engineer for a Design Quality Engineering (DQE) position working in the Aircraft Design (AD) Core Services group, in Sikorsky's Stratford, CT facility. The AD Core Services group supplements AD's technical engineering expertise with best-in-class engineering services including Design Quality checking, kit checking, continuous improvement initiatives and metrics.

DQE responsibilities include reviewing/checking engineering drawings and solid models for clarity, completeness, conformity to Sikorsky Design Drafting Manuals (DDMs) and Engineering Process Manuals (EPMs), industry specifications including ASME Y14 series drawing conventions, and dimensioning and accuracy of supporting calculations. The candidate will be expected to identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend required corrective actions to responsible engineers or designers.

In addition to performing design quality reviews/checking, the selected candidate will also be involved in initiatives to apply digital tolerancing tools to create computer simulations for larger more complex systems installations. The selected candidate will be expected to gain proficiency in the simulation software (3DCS) which requires a strong understanding and ability to apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles per ASME Y14.5-2009.

The selected candidate will also be expected to contribute in continuous improvement activities of the Core Services team, focusing directly on the Aircraft Design group. This may include but not be limited to data analysis/data mining, metric creation and presentation, participating in corrective action investigations, root cause analysis, new tool development, cost savings initiatives, and structured improvement activities.
Basic Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
-2 years of professional experience in a mechanical design engineering capacity
-2 years of experience in computer aided 3-dimensional modeling & design software (CATIA V5 preferred)
-Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of ASME Y14.5 and Y14.100
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel and PowerPoint
Desired Skills:
-Experience with industry design guidelines, design and drafting manuals and engineering standard work. Direct Sikorsky experience in this area is a plus.
-Demonstrated technical understanding of manufacturing processes and tooling
-Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent
-Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and working level teammates
-Experience with 3DCS or similar tolerance analysis simulation software is a plus
