Cryogenic Fluids Management (CFM) Engineer (Littleton or Huntsville)
- Huntsville, AL
Description:The coolest jobs on this planet... or any other... are with Lockheed Martin Space!
Do you have a passion to get humans back to the moon and eventually to Mars? NASA has developed a vision for exploration that includes the development of a Human Lander System and a Gateway Habitat in the next 5 years. The nation received a White House mandate to place humans back on the surface of the Moon by 2024. Lockheed Martin Space is onboard to be part of this historic event and is looking to build a core team of highly-motivated engineers excited to be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This is a rare opportunity for you to help NASA meet the challenges of the first step in achieving that "long-term presence at the Moon" and the stepping point for human missions to Mars.
As a Lead Spacecraft Cryogenic Fluid Engineer you will be key in leading preliminary and detailed cryogenic fluid/thermal design and analysis on spacecraft components and subsystems (tanks, pipes, cryocoolers, etc.), as well as performing comprehensive modelling of the entire spacecraft cryogenic system using standardized processes and tools allowing multi-phase flows and thermal response as appropriate (Fluent, STAR-CCM+, Thermal Desktop, SINDA, TSS, etc). Other related responsibilities include:
- Providing technical memos and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews
- Presenting resultant design and analysis data to the spacecraft design/engineering team, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical exchange meetings and formal design reviews
- Providing review, interpretation, flow-down and implementation of program requirements
- Performing cryogenic fluid engineering support for spacecraft testing and development.
- Work interactively with multiple engineering fields in a fast-paced environment to develop cost-effective solutions to thermal control requirements which also satisfy producibility objectives defined by Manufacturing and Quality groups.
The position has a preferred work location of Littleton, CO. Support from Huntsville, AL is also available.
To promote the sharing of ideas, Lockheed Martin cultivates an inclusive work environment that inspires differences and big-picture thinking.
