Avionics Model-Based Systems Engineer Staff

Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking Systems Engineers with Model Based Design experience in aircraft avionics domain to join our Sikorsky Rotary Systems & Sciences team, supporting the Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) operating unit. As a Systems Engineer in RMS, you will be an integral part of the technical execution of RMS's broad portfolio of platforms and programs.

In this position, you will be given the opportunity to leverage your Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) experiences on teams engaged in the design of complex military systems. You will use MBSE tools to capture stakeholder and system requirements, facilitate discussion and understanding of system usage, and enhance a culture of model based designs. You will engage other Systems Engineers in a broader understanding of modeling and assist them in developing Systems Engineering work products, including: System Specifications, Logically Derived and Linked Requirements, Interface Definitions, System Diagrams, Trade Studies, and Detailed Designs.

As a successful candidate in this position, you will apply your MBSE experience to aerospace and avionics systems consisting of hardware elements, embedded software elements, standard avionics communications interfaces, and sensor systems. You will participate in teams to model and consider the system use cases and human interactions. This systems engineer will work in a team environment and must be able to effectively communicate and interface with others including Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, Program Management, Suppliers and end Customers.

Stratford is a town in Connecticut. Stratford, Connecticut was founded in 1639. It is in New England and located on the Long Island Sound. It is east of the Housatonic River and it also part of Fairfield County. Stratford is 18.7 miles and has a population of 51,384 people. Stratford is only an hour in driving distance from parts New York. Stratford consists of multiple public bathing beaches, five marinas, fishing piers, and two public boat launching facilities. Stratford's' mission statement is as follows, "To enhance the quality of life within the community by providing services with professionalism and a commitment to excellence." It is quite noticeable driving through the town of Stratford that the town sticks to their mission statement.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an emerging authority.

Intermediate / Advanced experience modeling complex systems in system modeling tools (eg. Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw)

Broad systems engineering experience (e.g. system architecture and design, systems documentation, system requirements, CONOPS, systems verification)

Experience developing, deriving, and allocating tiered Systems Engineering requirements in Aerospace & Defense applications

Proven ability to effectively lead and collaborate in a team environment

Strong written, communication, and presentation skills

Advanced proficiency in MS Office Products

Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
Experience leading MBSE teams on large scale avionics integration programs in the DoD environment

Experience with architecture frameworks such as DODAF, MODAF or other

SysML Certification (OMG Certified Systems Model Professional (OCSMP) (or other equivalent))

Experience generating deliverable Systems Engineering documents from the system model

Knowledge of product lines and creating variations of product baselines within the engineering toolsets

Experience with agile development.

Experience working in teams with both local and virtual team members

Understanding of a broad set of common aircraft technologies and interfaces (e.g. sensors, mission systems, software designs, human machine interfaces, Ethernet, 1553)

Current active DoD Secret Security Clearance
