OVERVIEW

The Director, Capital Campaign, will be responsible for organizing and managing a vigorous, coherent and well-planned campaign. He or she will report to the Chief Strategy & External Relations Officer and work closely with Lincoln Center Board leadership. The Director, Capital Campaign will work in tandem with the organization's annual Development team to assess fundraising opportunities and play a lead role in conceiving, planning, and implementing Lincoln Center's next major fundraising initiative.

The Director, Capital Campaign will be both internally and externally focused and will bring strong strategic and planning skills as well as the ability to cultivate and solicit gifts from the top echelon of potential donors, as appropriate. He or she will work to design a campaign program that complements the organization's significant annual contributed income goals.

The Director, Capital Campaign is responsible for providing right hand support to the Chief Strategy & External Relations Officer to achieve the fundraising goals of the campaign, whose goal is anticipated to be in the mid- to high-nine figure range. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Partner with Chief Strategy & External Relations Officer on campaign strategy; assess fundraising opportunities and assume responsibility for developing a campaign plan, timeline, budget, gift pyramid, prospect lists, income reports, printed/digital stewardship materials, and cultivation/recognition events.
  • Establish strong working relationships with the President, Board chair and campaign leadership, as well as colleagues in Lincoln Center's office of Planning & Development. Guide the campaign solicitation process, working closely with Lincoln Center's Planning & Development Department and, as required, other Lincoln Center constituents, including the New York Philharmonic.
  • Proactively take the lead in prospect identification and qualification, drawing in part from personal knowledge of the New York City philanthropic community; provide cultivation and solicitation support to Lincoln Center's Chair and President.
  • Communicate the goals, progress and success of the campaign to various constituencies; prepare talking points and presentations for the President, the Chief Strategy & External Relations Officer, and trustees.
  • Ensure that capital campaign efforts are transparent and pursued in partnership with other internal Lincoln Center departments, Work with the Finance Department and Planning & Development Department on pledge and payment reporting accuracy and reconciliation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven track record of success planning and managing a successful capital campaign similar to the size and scope of the one Lincoln Center will be undertaking.
  • Proven ability to motivate and direct a committed group of volunteer fundraisers; comfortable providing direction and support to others doing the solicitation.
  • A personal record of success in identifying, cultivating and soliciting major individual and institutional gifts.
  • Experience in New York City, with a deep knowledge of the philanthropic community
  • A collaborative nature with the ability to quickly establish credibility and gain the respect and support of colleagues, donors and volunteers.
  • A good listener; comfortable receiving input from many sources and able to analyze and formulate disparate information into a sound, well-organized plan.
  • Proven ability to hire, manage and work with a diverse group of personalities
  • A quick study; extremely well-organized; a creative self-starter, capable of handling multiple tasks and establishing priorities.
  • A track record as an effective communicator who is enthusiastic, articulate and persuasive, with excellent writing skills.
  • Strong passion for the performing arts.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
