In this role, reporting to the Head of Cloud Operations, you will lead the newly formed Network Operations team.  In Cloud Operations each team has a core mission and for our NOC that mission is twofold, first provide world class observability infrastructure and tooling for 200+ engineers, second, serve as the drumbeat of consistency that the other team inside and outside of Cloud Operations can rally around.  This is an extremely hands-on role requiring equal adeptness in communication and project management as well as deep technical ability in solving complex technical challenges.  

  • Engage with product and engineering teams to design, build and maintain the Life360 production observability and reporting platforms

  • Coordinate cross team and cross functional “operational excellence” processes, documentation, and tooling

  • Manage a team of engineers providing L1 follow the sun production support

  • Act as the lead Incident Handler including building processes and tools to ensure proper after action reports and activities are completed

  • Define and build the infrastructure for production reporting

  • Participate in shared on-call manager rotation

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience managing teams of 5 or more in fast paced environments
  • In-depth experience with large scale observability and reporting systems (New Relic, Datadog, Elastic, Prometheus, etc)

  • Demonstrated experience managing environments supporting tens of millions of requests per minute

  • Programming experience with one or more relevant languages: Java, Python, PHP, Scala, etc.

  • Ability to quickly learn and apply complex subjects and technologies

  • Experience with business reporting systems and tooling highly desirable

  • Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate initiative and high self-motivation. Enthusiastic, creative and positive attitude

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, English verbal and written communication skills. Highly collaborative working style
