Accountant Job Description

  • Obtain, organize, analyze and account for daily and monthly transaction records for all system cash transactions
  • Balance and reconcile system cash transactions to bank records, operations trial balance and the general ledger
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting closings and respond to audit requests in the areas of cash accounting
  • Independently perform research/analysis, identify problems/discrepancies and their causes, and recommend corrective actions
  • Prepare, update and document other reports and analyses as warranted

Requirements

  • Two years experience in cash accounting and reconciliations at a bank, savings institution, mortgage lender/broker or comparable financial services company
  • Familiarity with treasury operations and ACH cash transfers a strong plus
  • Ability to independently perform research/analysis, identify problems/discrepancies and their causes, and recommend corrective actions
  • Organized, attention to detail, maintain organized/complete documentation and records
  • Ability to verbally communicate clearly and precisely on technical/specific topics
  • Must be self-directed, able to work independently, as well as work in a team-oriented and fast paced environment
  • Strong initiative and demonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptive and agile
  • Upper-intermediate skills with Excel required; familiarity with Access a plus
  • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related Business discipline preferred
