An Underwriter III reviews residential mortgage loan applications and all applicable documentation to render lending decisions in accordance with GSE, government, client and/or internal LLN guidelines. Team player who will work closely with internal and external customers to provide outstanding customer service.

Essential Functions

Underwriting conventional, jumbo, and/or portfolio loans within established SLA requirements while maintaining file quality which includes rendering credit decisions with appropriate conditions and clearing conditions on files according to LLN and/or client guidelines

Perform data input and reconcile LP and DU findings to ensure data integrity and compliance with LLN/Client guidelines/criteria

Review and analyze credit reports to assess residential and employment histories, current liabilities, payment patterns, derogatory credit and public records to ensure profile meets LLN/Client guidelines

Navigate multiple guideline sources to ensure compliance with agency, client and

LenderLive requirements/limitations.

Analyze residential appraisal reports

Review preliminary title reports

Accurately analyze and calculate income from various income sources including but not limited to hourly, salaried, commission, fixed income and complex self-employment

Analyze various asset statements including, but not limited to, checking, savings, 401K, etc.

Effectively communicate lending decisions in a positive and professional manner
Identify and review red flags when reviewing application information and documentation including income, occupancy and assets.


High school Diploma or GED


Minimum of 5+ years front line underwriting in a fast paced mortgage environment

Experience with automated underwriting systems (DU/LP)

Experience with fraud tools, i.e. LoanSafe or Fraduguard is preferred

FHA CHUMS orVA LAPP/SAR is required

Working Conditions

Work is performed in climate controlled indoor administrative office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, depending upon office or meeting location.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee frequently is required to remain stationary. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 10 pounds. Vision: Close and distance required with ability to see objects in presence of glare or bright lighting (e.g., computer screen). Speech/Hearing: Frequently interact with management, vendors, coworkers, industry constituents, clients and the public.
