Senior Systems Administrator

Install, configure, and support an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet system or a segment of a network system. Maintain hardware and software. Monitor systems to ensure availability to all users and perform necessary maintenance to support system availability. May supervise other support and client server specialists to plan, coordinate, and implement security measures

Essential Functions

Install & maintain servers in distributed data center environments

Resolve system, application and other issues for the user community

Support a complex multi-domain AD forest

Management of monitoring and alerting systems

Provides support for production, development, QA and test enterprise systems.

Analyze system and application performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance.

Follows best practices to ensure system and application security. Perform regular reviews of system security and adjusts accordingly to ensure access and modification only by authorized users and/or applications.

React to system alerts to quickly identify and rectify any issues

Proactively identify areas of degraded service levels, recommends improvements and implements fixes to stabilize and optimize systems and network.

Perform system maintenance impacting availability outside of normal business hours.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will view, have access to, and work with confidential financial data. The employee in this position must adhere to strict confidentiality policies and procedures.

Participate in a 24x7 on-call support rotation.

Perform other duties as requested.



BS/BA degree in IT or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education.


Seven (7) or more years of enterprise level systems administration.


Expert on Microsoft Server Operating Systems, Active Directory, server and storage hardware.

Understand data encryption technologies & implementations

Email technologies such as SMTP/IMAP/POP3 in an enterprise MS Exchange environment

Ability to interact with Service Desk personnel, engineering teams and user community to prioritize and rapidly resolve issues.

Familiar working in an enterprise data center environment


Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects

Experience working in a fast paced production environment

Outstanding verbal and written communication

Effectively write both policies corresponding procedures

Able to present to technical resources or executives

Deep understanding of current security technologies. Can lead security incident response.

Advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and how they relate to server communication

Secure File Transfer experience using sFTP/FTPS

Highly skilled using and deploying VMware virtualization technologies

Citrix XenApp & XenDesktop

Symantec/Veritas Backup Exec. Other backup technology experience a plus

Storage Area Network experience a plus

Working Conditions

Work is performed in climate controlled indoor administrative office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, depending upon office or meeting location.
