The Accounts Payable Specialist processes invoices and bills.

Essential Functions
Conduct the day-to-day operations of Accounts Payable.

Calculate, prepare and issues bills, invoices, account statements, and other financial documents according to established procedures.

Code and enter A/P invoices and prepare payment selection reports.

Revise and update procedures and maintain or ensure the maintenance of accurate records.

Act as a liaison between Accounts Payable, vendors and other departments.

Prepare and examine the Invoice Aging Report to ensure timely payments have been made to vendors.

Ensure proper calculation and preparation of checks to vendors.

Prepare, review and release check runs so that vendors are paid on time.

Update A/P files, and reconciles statements.

Maintain vendor files to include current contact and W-9.

Assist in the preparation of 1099s each year.

Use signature authority in accordance with departmental policies.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will view, have access to, and work with confidential financial data. The employee in this position must adhere to strict confidentiality policies and procedures.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Associates or Bachelor Degree with and emphasis in Accounting preferred.

Foundational knowledge of accounting practices required

Prior A/P experience helpful, but not required

Title or mortgage related background would be helpful

Knowledge of appropriate accounting practices to carry out the A/P function in a professional manner.

Ability to perform all required match accurately

Strong communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills.

Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills.

Proficient skills with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Ability to complete work assignments in a timely manner.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in climate controlled indoor administrative office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, depending upon office or meeting location.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee frequently is required to remain stationary. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 10 pounds. Vision: Close and distance required with ability to see objects in presence of glare or bright lighting (e.g., computer screen). Speech/Hearing: Frequently interact with management, vendors, coworkers, industry constituents, clients and the public.
