2020 Investment Banking Summer Analyst - Shareholder Advisory (New York)

The Shareholder Advisory Summer Analyst will become an integral member of the Shareholder Advisory Group, a dedicated team focused on providing both internal and external advice regarding preparing for hostile activity, activism, corporate governance and shareholder related issues. Assignments fall into a range of categories, including corporate preparedness, activist defense, understanding of shareholder base of public companies, M&A, divestitures, general and strategic advisory, and capital markets. The Summer Analyst will work closely with industry teams to prepare white paper exercises to simulate for corporate clients the potential arguments from activist investors.

In addition, the Shareholder Advisory Summer Analyst will participate in an on-going training program. Classes held throughout the summer teach the basic fundamentals of banking, with a specific focus on modeling and relevant analytical techniques. Depending on the project or initiative, day-to-day responsibilities of an analyst include sourcing and executing acquisitions to expand Lazard's business, financial analysis and modeling, company and industry research, participating in the development of internal presentations and interacting with senior management to assist in strategic decision-making. Summer analysts are expected to spend 9 weeks at the Firm.


Candidates should be university students in their penultimate year and top academic performers who are willing to work in an unstructured environment, which values initiative, creativity, maturity, and enthusiasm for learning. Academic backgrounds may vary (no background in finance or accounting is required), however candidates must be comfortable with basic financial concepts and enjoy quantitative work.
