Summer 2020 Refrigeration Application Designer, Intern/Co-op

Position Summary:
Complete a three, six, nine or twelve month session between or in conjunction with college semesters or quarters working as a member of the Facility Engineering team. Under the guidance of a manager, the intern/co-op will manage mechanical application projects through direct communication with project managers in the divisions and general office departments. Draw mechanical plans with AutoCAD (Computer Aided Design), and produce technically accurate design sets in a timely manner that is consistent with division requirements and construction schedules. Essential Job Functions:
  • Produce appropriate and creative mechanical plans utilizing AutoCAD consistent with company objectives
  • Ensure all materials are available (e.g., redlines, sketches, and written work scopes) to complete mechanical applications prior to starting a plan
  • Understand and follow redlines, rough sketches and written work scopes to produce mechanical plans
  • Prioritize, coordinate and communicate completion dates for assigned projects
  • Manage projects through direct communication with project managers, store planning, and procurement
  • Utilize traditional sources (e.g., equipment catalogs, vendor software, websites, etc.) of information and technical data
  • Interact with project managers to prioritize project needs
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
Minimum Position/Education Qualifications:
  • Committed to working toward a 4-year degree in mechanical/electrical/civil engineering/architecture chemical or construction management
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • 18 years of age (if on a construction worksite)
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly express thoughts to others and exchange information
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high change environment
  • Ability to establish a course of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently and in line with the department's objectives
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others, establishing and maintaining good working relationships
Desired Previous Job Experience/Qualifications:
  • Refrigeration application background
  • Understanding of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) fundamentals
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical plans
  • Proficient with Excel
  • Experience with Sitefolio
