Position Summary:
Accomplish strategic objectives by overseeing multiple Merchandising Services project activities. Manage large, high-risk programs impacting several cross-functional areas of Merchandising. Drive program management, manage initiative portfolio and support capability building best practices across lines of business. Lead strategic direction and function as a liaison across the Merchandising Services organization and with business partners. Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement assigned projects, including developing scope and approach for each project, managing project timelines, preparation of schedules, agreements, lead vendor proposals/bids, and coordination of contractors, vendors, consultants, and internal resources
  • Lead change management and process improvement activities across Merchandising
  • Introduce and maintain project/control management and process improvement methodologies
  • Prioritize project management deliverables based on Merchandising strategies and goals and in conjunction with Merchandising department heads
  • Oversee on-time project implementation, within budgeted expense, and achieving planned benefit streams
  • Seek new Merchandising project opportunities through collaboration with other departments and suppliers
  • Manage a comprehensive training program for category managers
  • Provide leadership for project managers and stakeholders and apply conflict resolution skills to resolve program and project issues
  • Ensure all project objectives are clearly documented, approved and delivered to meet expectations
  • Manage the integration of tasks and track and review vendor deliverables
  • Manage project risk, develop mitigation plans, and escalate decisions and unresolved issues
  • Create highly collaborative cross-functional partnerships across the organization
  • Serve as a Merchandising subject matter expert on projects being led by other departments
  • Build strong relationships across all functions within Kroger as well as with vendors
  • Present process changes, gain alignment from all functional leaders, and work collaboratively to implement
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports

Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • 7 years' experience in leadership position delivering large and/or complex projects
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to customers and to all levels within the organization
  • Ability to make decisions of wide variety and complexity
  • Effective analytical thinking
  • Proven problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and development of associates

Desired Previous Job Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Understanding of Merchandising departments, roles and processes
  • Familiarity with Kroger Technology Agile process
