Senior Manager, Diversity and Inclusion

This role enriches Kohl's culture of inclusion by celebrating, engaging and leveraging the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of our Associates and Customers. Design, deliver and evaluate diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives that align to both company and HR strategies. Influence and align internal and external partners to ensure D&I policies, processes and practices support an inclusive environment.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

COLLABORATE TO BUILD KOHL'S D&I VISION, STRATEGY AND PLANS

  • Establish and mature Kohl's D&I framework including the focus areas of Culture, Career/Talent, Commerce and Community
  • Engage Senior Leadership in building and advocating for D&I priorities internally and externally
  • Drive alignment with cross-functional partners around broad D&I priorities including Marketing, Corporate Communication, Community Relations, Purchasing, Legal, Risk & Compliance, Merchandising, Product Development and other Functional Business Leaders
  • Consult with and advise HR and business partners to assess, build and implement targeted D&I plans
  • Keep current on D&I trends and best practices through cultivating professional network and organizations


BUILD AN ENGAGING CULTURE THAT VALUES AND HARNESSES OUR ASSOCIATES DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES
  • Partner to establish expectations of inclusive behaviors and Leadership at Kohl's
  • Leverage the Business Resource Groups to shape D&I initiatives, drive momentum across the company and gather feedback
  • Build cultural competence and awareness across the organization and increase engagement on diversity
  • Partner to ensure company policies reflect Kohl's vision and commitment to D&I
  • Create and implement an D&I calendar of initiatives, communication strategy and change management plan
  • Develop plans and solutions to address Associate ideas and feedback to strengthen inclusive culture
  • Build external D&I awards/recognition strategy and manage application processes


ALIGN D&I AGENDA AND TALENT MANAGEMENT PRACTICES TO HIRE, DEVELOP, RETAIN AND GROW A DIVERSE WORKFORCE
  • Partner to target early talent, succession planning and leadership development efforts to cultivate a diverse workforce and Leadership pipeline
  • Partner to build compelling hiring, development and talent management practices that draw diverse talent to Kohl's
  • Leverage a data driven approach to help establish a sense of success and achievement


DESIGN D&I MEASUREMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY STRATEGY
  • Design a measurement approach to monitor progress and update leadership on our progress and achievement
  • Design a quarterly D&I summary for the Chief People Officer and collaborate with appropriate organizations to drive improvements
  • Partner to ensure legal compliance and keep current on changing legislation and policies relating to Equal Employment Opportunity programs


MANAGEMENT OF ASSOCIATES
  • Manages direct reports, systems and projects to achieve unit goals in accordance with Company policies and practices
  • Provides leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise
  • Creates an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance and maintaining open communications
  • Develops staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments and establishing performance and development plans


QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resource Management or related field
  • 7 or more years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in designing and managing successful D&I programs and managing change
  • Ability to influence and align Senior Leadership; excellent professional presence, verbal and written communication
  • Experience navigating through organizational complexity and ambiguity
  • Ability to synthesize Executive level presentations and materials
  • Ability to think strategically and strong analytical skills
  • Experience mobilizing and activating teams and managing projects/programs
  • Travel required: 5%


PREFERRED
  • Masters degree
  • Experience building D&I strategy and plans
  • Human capital consulting experience
