Manager, Digital Copy

Manage the brand positioning and creative vision for all seasonal concepting. Determine and evolve brand voice as it relates to corporate initiatives. Manage and lead the digital copy team in developing digital copy that reflects the Kohl's brand consistently across all channels.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT

  • Supervise and mentor copywriters in voice, concept development and articulation of brand guidelines
  • Collaborate with the copy director, creative directors, copy editors, designers, art directors, production, merchandising team and project managers to translate marketing strategy into creative content
  • Collaborate with e-commerce merchandising and strategy teams to develop online story content to support overall brand concept
  • Assist in developing and editing content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media in collaboration with the social media team
  • Develop content for media previews and special events, including emails, signage and invitations, in collaboration with the PR team
CREATIVE MANAGEMENT
  • Supervise the development of navigational copy in collaboration with the e-commerce team
  • Oversee the home page, email, editorial, promotional, category, brand, special shop, SMS and banner content
  • Supervise and mentor copywriters in voice, concept development and articulation of brand guidelines
  • Collaborate with the copy editors to approve process, timelines and copy guidelines
  • Collaborate with the e-commerce merchandising and strategy teams to develop and manage item page content in a timely manner
MANAGEMENT OF ASSOCIATES
  • Manages direct reports, systems and projects to achieve unit goals in accordance with Kohl's policies and practices
  • Prepare and analyze unit plans and reports
  • Provides leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise, thus affecting the results of the operating area
  • Creates an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance and maintaining open communications
  • Develops staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments and establishing performance and development plans
  • Assign and review product content from freelance writers, as needed, and maintain the brand integrity and voice
QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED
  • 5+ years professional copywriting experience in advertising, retail, catalog and/or internet
  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications or English
  • Strong copy editing, conceptual and visual creative skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Copy samples required
PREFERRED
  • 3+ years experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience with UX/CX copywriting
  • Experience with SEO optimization
