Art Manager

Leads the creation of innovative prints, yarn dyes, sweater pattern, embellishments and/or placed graphics relevant to brand DNA and trends. Do you love. . . creating original artwork? Are you energized by. . . researching and innovating new ideas and concepts? Do you enjoy. . . developing teams?

ACCOUNTABILITIES

CREATES AND EXECUTES ARE DIRECTION

  • Creates art for a mega brand, multiple brands/classifications and/or size ranges within the division
  • Researches current artwork trends in partnership with Art Manager to influence conceptual direction for multiple categories/brands
  • Creates and inspires new ideas/concepts outside the current assortment
  • Studies competition and benchmarks relative to brand position and keeps Design informed with what's new and directional
  • Ensures consistency and differentiation of brand(s) across division, consistent with market trends, brand position and business strategy
  • Interacts and develops relationships with the cross functional teams to exchange processes, establish priorities, leverage expertise and streamline the process
  • Understands vendor capability for print technique and fabric base limitations


BUILDS PARTNERSHIP TO DRIVE CREATIVE VISION
  • Acts as a key partner to Designer & Brand Manager, influencing decision making at the buyer level
  • Merchandises color and print and presents seasonal art direction to cross functional team
  • Works corroboratively with peers to improve processes and enforce best practices across the entire Textile/Graphic Design department


DEVELOPS HIGH PERFORMING TEAMS
  • Manages artists, systems and projects to achieve brand goals
  • Provides leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise, thus affecting the results
  • Develops a common vision, sets clear objectives, facilitates teamwork, recognizes outstanding performance and maintains open communication
  • Develops staff through coaching and training opportunities and by providing regular performance feedback on established individual and departmental goals


QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED
  • Strong artistic background including the ability to create conceptual and final art in several different mediums
  • Advanced proficiency and expertise in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Ned Graphics, Kaledo or related program
  • Ability to prioritize and execute to multiple deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, time management and presentation skills


PREFERRED
  • College degree in Graphic Design, Textile Design or related field
  • Minimum 6-8 years of Print Design experience, preferably within the retail industry
  • 1-2 years of experience managing direct reports


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Travel
