Facilities Maintenance Technician

We have an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our cross-county Facilities team. As a KinderCare Technician, you'll have the important responsibility of ensuring that your assigned centers are safe and inviting for the families and children we serve.

Qualifications:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs in multiple child care facilities through work orders submitted by center staff. Work includes: Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC); electrical; plumbing; other mechanical; and lighting. Also, general carpentry and repair of facility structures, as well as minor plumbing work.
  • Perform safety and security inspections of playgrounds and property.
  • Operate a laptop computer/tablet and smartphone for the purposes of collecting work orders, producing schedules and submitting time records
  • Engage local vendors to complete more complex repairs and monitor performance.
  • Assist with inspections of renovations and new construction, as well as identifying potential capitol replacement projects
  • Order materials, update and/or create work orders and provide status updates through electronic Facilities Management software and systems
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing ongoing lists of maintenance projects and follow through commitments made.
  • Maintenance experience in a multi-unit environment, preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of materials, methods, terminology, equipment, and tools used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of building structures and systems, including those used in performing rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical, and painting work.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use tools of office automation, including computers and applicable software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and work order management software, iPhone and iPad.
  • Time management and organization skills
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment and the ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions and a working knowledge of basic machinery preventive maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply facility maintenance manuals and technical bulletins, construction drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Ability to perform well under high volume of requests.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with team and center staff.
  • Strong professional communication skills.
  • Self- motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Qualified to operate a company vehicle based on a motor vehicle record check and company policy.
