Responsibilities

Kforce's client, a renowned game studio currently working on AAA console title in Redmond, WA is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Writer who can translate game feature and hotfix lists from engineering into customer facing content for all levels of players. The ideal candidate has strong PM skills to manage workload and create, track, and prioritize tasks and assist in strategy for article library. They must thrive in an exciting and fast-paced environment.Responsibilities:Writing (approximately 80% of time):

  • Writing patch notes and known issue articles using fix lists provided by engineering
  • Updating support/how-to content for gaming audiences to ensure that it is clear, concise, and easy-to-follow
  • Authoring new articles to build and expand our existing content library
  • Copy review
  • Content consolidation and reformatting
  • Quality control of writing and content display to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Communicating and collaborating with multiple vendor and client stakeholders
  • Balancing multiple assignments with tight deadlines, working independently and as part of a team
Project Management (approximately 20% of time):
  • Function as a content point of contact for the production team
  • Project tracking and reporting as part of a larger PM effort
  • Task creation and maintenance
  • Editorial quality control
  • Asset acquisition and management
  • Content scrub support


Skills

  • BA in English, Journalism, Communication, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years online media copy editor/writer experience
  • Ability to independently write content and prepare professional drafts within branding guidelines with little oversight from team
  • Understanding of support needs for both core gaming users as well as broader users in video content, social networking
  • Excellent writing skills, an inventive mind and consistently quality check habits
  • Ability to follow established formatting and adhere to content guidelines and corporate writing standards
  • Proficiency with Visual Studio Team Services, or similar bug database as well as Microsoft Office software- Outlook, Excel, Word, and Project
  • Ability to self-manage and self-motivate, balancing with a collaborative attitude
  • Excellent, collegial verbal and written communication skills that support customer service to both clients and other team members, following up with loop-closing and documentation
  • Ability to juggle multiple deadlines and responsibilities, triaging and prioritizing multiple competing requests; ability to flex, shift, and refocus
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management/planning skills; Desire for constant process improvement
  • Open and adaptable to change, constantly learning and improving
During WFH or if remote, the following is required for this type of position:
  • Internet speed of at least 500 Mbps or 1 Gbps, wired connection preferred, to ensure work is not impacted by connectivity/latency issues
  • Make sure to run and repeat speed tests throughout the day, as it can fluctuate during peak hours
  • Reimbursement offered if an upgrade is an option in your area
