Staff Accountant

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Staff Accountant in Houston, TX. Summary: One of our top clients in the NW Houston area is looking for an Accountant to help manage the daily operations of the function while focusing on continuous improvement to continue and drive enhancements. This role also provides leadership with analytical support through performance management reporting, special projects, and ad hoc analysis. Essential Functions:

  • Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
  • Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries
  • Perform day to day general ledger accounting
  • Calculate and prepare accrual journal entries for assigned business units
  • Responsible for month, quarter and year-end close of assigned business units
  • Analyze fluctuations in account balances
  • Prepare monthly business unit financials with explanation of benefits
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
  • Perform specialized projects as assigned
  • Safeguards confidentiality of the medical records and complies with all local, state, and federal laws pertaining to medical records
  • Assures compliance with all HIPAA regulations concerning use, retrieval, storage and sharing of medical records
  • Any other duties of similar or lesser nature as required


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar field, CPA a plus
  • 3-5 years OD advanced experience in at least a Senior / Experienced Staff role
  • Experience working in a multi-function, multi-geography environment preferred
  • Proven experience designing, building, and managing discrete and/or end-to-end processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products required
