Senior Manager, Investment Data Governance

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Investment Data Governance Specialist in Ann Arbor, MI. Summary: Reporting to the Director of Investment Operations, the Senior Investment Data Governance Specialist is a hands-on position responsible for leading and managing a cross-functional investment data management team for a large and diverse institutional investment portfolio. Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the development, implementation, and monitoring of the investment data governance strategy including data quality standards and procedures to achieve the level of complete, accurate, and timely data required to meet the investment teams needs
  • Serve as Chair of the Investment Data Governance Subcommittee, including leading and facilitating the decision-making process and implementation of decisions
  • Champion and communicate the investment data governance strategy, status, and results across the investment organization
  • Collaborate with investment team members to understand and optimize data management solutions for investment decision-making and reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with various members of the investment staff, Independent Risk Office, Finance Department, Information Technology Department, external investment managers, and vendors to ensure the consistent production and availability of accurate investment data
  • Serve as a point of escalation for governance, data quality, and data protection issues and work closely with data stewards and users across data domains and investment systems to improve the quality of investment data
  • Define and monitor roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of investment data
  • Implement and manage a systematic data issue tracking process that ensures oversight and reporting of identified issues to resolution

  • Bachelors degree in a related subject (e.g. Business, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science)
  • At least Five (5) years of relevant work experience in an institutional investment management environment
  • Significant experience working in an institutional investment organization including a diversified portfolio with a broad range of asset classes and fund structures
  • Significant experience working with investment data and investment data systems including industry standard data management practices and investment business processes
  • Investment data governance experience in an institutional investment organization including data governance management and strategy development and implementation
  • Hands-on experience developing and managing investment data management quality processes and procedures especially with regard to newly installed or upgraded systems and with regard to vendor managed data services
  • Experience with large data projects including planning, requirements gathering/documentation, design, implementation, and user training/adoption
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience interacting/communicating with stakeholders at all levels including presentations to executive leadership
  • Organizational skills with an ability to meet deadlines with accuracy
  • Team player with the demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate across teams to influence outcomes
  • Ability to distill complex situations down to the key issues, and facilitate decision-oriented discussions
  • Self-starter
