Senior Machining Engineer-CNC

Responsibilities

Kforce has a small to medium size client in search of a Senior Machining/Manufacturing Engineer in Tucson, AZ. We are working directly with the Hiring Manager.Responsibilities:

  • Design manufacturing process plans for complex design/build assemblies used in Defense & Aerospace Industries
  • Responsible for designing, implementing and training on processes for manufacturing complex assemblies used in Defense and Aerospace
  • Design one-of-a-kind machining/assembly fixtures and tooling
  • Create multi-configuration revision controlled models and detailed drawings using Solidworks
  • Create work instructions by dissecting projects into discernable incremental tasks; These include machining, fabrication and QA/QC functions
  • Manage production controls: work instructions, drawings, BOMs & test plans
  • Train teams to manufacture and assemble per manufacturing work instructions
  • Capture manufacturing data and recording in a OneNote log
  • Actively participate and engage in QA/QC processes
  • Work with customers on manufacturability, schedule, quality & testing
  • Support multiple concurrent projects through to completion
  • Justify and implement capital improvement projects.

Skills

  • BS or AS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Aerospace or similar field is preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years design experience
  • Minimum 5-8 years of hands on manufacturing
  • Minimum 5-8 years machining experience in 3 & 4 axis machines including programming
  • At least 3-5 years using SolidWorks Software or similar CAD Software package
  • CAD/CAM and CNC programming experience preferred - Mastercam preferred
  • Robust computer skills and strong working knowledge of: MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Cost estimating experience
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • knowledge of metal fabrication and welding is a preferred
  • Jig and fixture design experience, both for machining and fabrication
  • Supervisory experience - able to manage small fabrication/assembly teams
  • Knowledge of process control and ability to create manufacturing documentation using SolidWorks and Office Suite products
  • Knowledge of inventory control, able to create and control BOMs, inventory check lists
  • Knowledge of Industry codes such as ISO, ASME, AWS
  • Process improvement training (i.e. Lean/Six Sigma)
