Quality Control Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client, a leading regional CPA firm is seeking a Quality Control Director in New York, NY. The Quality Control (QC) Director will oversee the quality of engagements, supervise, and train professional staff and Partners on complex assurance issues. Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain steady contact with assigned clients throughout the year; Evaluate internal accounting controls and audit programs; Follow progress of work in relation to budgeted time and scheduled date of completion; Be sensitive to the client's view of services including the conduct of the engagement
  • Keep Partners informed on a timely basis as to engagement developments, presenting the major problems that may occur, with all of the facts, conclusions and recommendations
  • Resolve problems with Partner's approval and supervise report preparation as engagements near completion
  • Follow financial statement drafts through processing, answer questions that arise and submit reports to for final approval and signature
  • Deal directly with the client's attorneys, taxing agents and other parties
  • Supervise the preparation of management letters and tax returns
  • Prepare current billing memorandum
  • Enhance the Firm's reputation by conducting seminars, making speeches and having articles published in professional journals
  • Assist/participate with practice development and Firm management
  • Develop a list of contacts and begin cultivating relationships
  • Assume full responsibility for all aspects of an engagement and related client services
  • Motivate and assist staff members in their professional development
  • Represent the Firm in deliberations with client executives and their representatives
  • Plan and organize work assignments
  • Develop and evaluate staff
  • Address performance issues and concerns with appropriate employees and upper level management
  • Facilitate communication amongst team/group


REQUIREMENTS:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a CPA
  • 15+ years of experience in Public Accounting servicing corporations requiring compilations, review and audit statements; Preferably with mid-size or regional CPA firm
  • Must possess a high level of proficiency in US GAAP, IFRS, PCAOB, and US auditing standards
  • Should have Yellow Book and prior PSG/QC experience
  • Candidates should be prepared to meet challenging client requirements, provide value added services and should possess strong communication (both oral and written), interpersonal and analytical skills
