Responsibilities

Kforce is seeking a Principal Embedded/Electrical Engineer (Analog) in Carlsbad, CA. Summary:This person is responsible for the design and development of custom medical device equipment, including component level design of PC boards and other electromedical device assemblies. The Principal Embedded/Electrical Engineer (Analog) will work on multidisciplinary project teams during initial feasibility, design and development, design transfer and continued post release maintenance. The Principal Embedded/Electrical Engineer (Analog) ensures product adherence to electrical performance, safety, and EMC standards as well as creation and release of all design control documentation. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analysis, design, simulation, quick prototype, and debug of electrical circuits and firmware of complex embedded systems
  • Performs laboratory measurements, analyzes data and generates conclusions about system performance to specifications and requirements
  • Solicits, analyzes, and documents engineering requirements
  • Maintains and update the requirements and design documentation throughout the entire system life cycle
  • Performs requirements traceability to ensure proper allocation of system requirements to subsystems
  • Creates and performs test cases, protocols and reports for unit integration, and system testing
  • Works cohesively in small teams with experts of different fields (electrical engineers, scientist, clinical experts, etc.)
  • Works under limited guidance
  • Contributions impact the overall team's objectives
  • May provide limited input on overall project goals
  • Creates innovative and creative solutions to keep projects on-track
  • Maintains a high degree of quality in all work performed

Skills

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree in a scientific/engineering discipline, or 6 years of experience and a Master's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in ARM C/C++ compilers and development systems (Keil, Eclipse)
  • Knowledge of nested interrupts and real-time embedded designs using ARM-based microcontrollers, particularly STM32
  • Familiar with SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet and other interface protocols
  • Familiar with PLL, DDS, ADC, DAC, power supply design and monitoring
  • Some knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) SoCs and concepts like filters, IQ Demodulation
  • Recent experience in ultrasound or high bandwidth digital audio interfacing a significant plus
  • Experience in reading and understanding datasheets, schematics and embedded code
  • Ability to troubleshoot on bench and in system. Using Oscilloscope, Logic & protocol analyzers
  • Working experience with state of the art electronics design tools such as schematic capture (Altium, Orcad), as well as system / software tools (MatLab, Labview)
  • Familiarity with IEC 60601, IEC 62304 is a plus
  • Demonstrates technical proficiency; Regularly collaborates with others in suggesting valuable solutions as an active contributor. Works on moderately complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation; Exercises judgment within generally defined practices in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interprets data and draws conclusions regarding results used in presented material
