Part-Time Administrative Assistant

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce is assisting a client in the Ruskin, FL area who is seeking a Part-Time Administrative Assistant. This is a temporary grant-funded position for our Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP). The VLP works with attorneys in the legal community who volunteer their time doing pro bono work. The primary goal of this position will be to assist the Disaster Relief Coordinator and Disaster Relief Case Manager by providing administrative and programmatic support for grant initiatives, preparing required periodic reports, and monitoring grant deliverables. The Disaster Relief Project Assistant will be part of a designated disaster team of the VLP. Illustrative Duties:

  • Perform in-person client intake and telephone interviews, which includes confirming eligibility for services and identification of potential legal issues
  • Provide case investigation and background research
  • Follow up with volunteer attorneys to obtain updates regarding case status
  • Prepare advice and brief services letters to clients, as well as letters to volunteer attorneys, with minimal supervision
  • Work closely with Disaster Relief Coordinator and Disaster Relief Case Manager to ensure timely, coherent, coordinated support of the Project's activities and to ensure clients-legal and non-legal needs are being addressed
  • Maintain and organize client files, Project Plans and Project Data
  • Attend relevant trainings and events
  • Regional travel throughout 5-county area covered by grant
  • Perform other duties as designated by supervisor


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Political Science, Pre-Law, or related degree and some experience working in a law firm or similar office environment or an Associate's degree with 2 years of experience as a project assistant or legal administrative assistant
  • Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience using Social Media to promote resources and events
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to interview clients to determine essential facts and issue spot with regard to the nature and severity of their legal problems
  • Ability to work responsibly and independently, being a contributing team member, and comfortable with case management, organization of project plans and project data
  • Ability and willingness to work in close contact with staff on legal problems of client and to accept supervision and instruction
  • Sympathetic and compassionate understanding of the social, economic and legal issues faced by low-income individuals with limited access to such services
  • Ability to relate well and effectively with diverse groups and individuals
