Mid-Level SQL DBA/Programmer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client seeking a Mid-Level SQL DBA/Programmer in Doral, FL. Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining all databases and conducts related database administration while working closely with the Director of Information Technology
  • Ensures database replication is active and current
  • Monitors, tests and performs recovery operations with stored and archived data and images using network storage devices
  • Monitors systems and platforms for availability
  • Maintains the system integrity and security; maintaining data standard
  • Oversees backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover
  • Develops, manages and tests backup and recovery plans; restores and recovers corrupted databases
  • Ensures that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
  • Monitors performance and manages parameters to provide fast query responses to 'front end' users
  • Designs and develops subsequent phases of all reporting systems
  • Establishes the needs of users and monitors user access and security; controls access permissions and privileges according to organizational protocols
  • Maintains applications, tests and installs new solutions
  • Installs and tests upgrades and patches
  • Proactively addresses potential system failures
  • Provides 24/7 support for critical situations
  • Evaluates and recommends new database technologies
  • Creates and troubleshoots MS SQL and other SQL based systems
  • Works closely with IT project managers, database programmers, developers, engineers and others throughout the business to ensure effective and efficient operations and database administration
  • Communicates regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database mapping out the 'conceptual designs' for a planned database in outline
  • Refines the 'physical designs' to meet system storage requirements


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent job experience required
  • The Database Administrator must possess at least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience related to the technical aspects of data processing, office automation, data communications, and their applications
  • Must be familiar with current terminology and methodology of the same
  • Experience with comprehensive system analysis, design, programming, implementation integration and management
  • Proven experience in SQL database administration, prominent programming languages such as Perl, ASP Script, JavaScript, C/C++, etc., and technical writing
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Familiarity with healthcare applications, terminology and workflows strongly preferred; The individual must be able to handle a variety of situations using tact and diplomacy
  • Must work well in a team environment, as well as individually and remain abreast of technical developments, techniques and user programs
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects/responsibilities simultaneously to achieve desired business results
