Mechanical Machine Assembly Technician

Kforce has a client that is seeking an Automated Mechanical Machine Assembly Technician in Tucson, Arizona (AZ). Responsibilities:

  • Will be asked to fulfill the lead role assembling custom automated equipment and from time to time be asked to perform other duties of the Manufacturing Manager as assigned
  • Take direction from the Manufacturing Manager
  • Using the design package and customer specifications for reference; plans and coordinates work required to assemble systems and sub-assemblies
  • Verify the components are correct in the build
  • Establish the floor plan layout
  • Build electro-mechanical devices
  • Perform machine build integration support and installations tasks.
  • Report any issues regarding workmanship or design to the Manufacturing Manager
  • Using established procedures for -Integration- perform setup and alignment of the system and sub-assemblies; Repair and/or replace defective components of the system as required
  • Responsible for resolving issues through technical problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Correct handling of the materials used for the build
  • Ensure drawing packages are correct and up to date
  • Adhere to the schedule for the build of the machine and input for future projects
  • Assign daily tasks for assigned technicians
  • Work with the project team including project managers, customers, designers, and programmers to solve problems in order to provide the customer with a complete and functional system
  • Be a mentor for the Mechanical Technicians, to train new technicians to efficiently and accurately assemble automated equipment
  • Report any issues regarding workmanship or design to the Manufacturing Manager
  • Participate in tear down and shipping of the equipment

  • A Certificate as a Machine Builder, Machinist, Maintenance Technician, or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in assembling custom automated machines
  • 3-5 years of experience reading and interpreting drawings and solid models
  • 3 years of experience using computers and computer software
  • Experience in a lead role would be a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and machine tools (Knee Mill, Surface Grinder, Lathe)
