Manager, Real Estate Accounting

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client, a leading New York, NY based real estate developer/asset manager is seeking a talented Manager, Real Estate Accounting. Summary: You will be asked to build relationships with key contacts in Financial Systems; Financial Reporting (External and internal) Corporate accounting; Accounting policies; Tax; and Internal and external audit. Key Tasks:

  • Review/consolidate key information provided by subsidiaries on areas including IFRS and more
  • Quarter-over-quarter analysis
  • Equity continuity and non-controlling interest reconciliations OCI and currency analysis
  • Cashflow and available liquidity
  • Distributing and communicating financial reporting templates and timelines
  • Liaising with key contacts during the quarter to continually assess and address issues that may result in delays or inaccuracy of information
  • Work with the Corporate accounting team to reconcile intercompany balances
  • Oversee the maintenance of the legal entity hierarchy within the consolidation system (HFM), working with the Financial Systems, Legal and Tax teams to review ownership changes and identifying the impact of these changes to the financial statements at various levels of consolidation
  • Review the tax provision workbook, working with the Tax team to ensure the key financial information ties into the subsidiary reported results on a legal entity basis
  • Work with internal audit and the Risk and Controls team members to ensure controls are properly integrated and working effectively
  • Respond to requests from external auditors challenge the way data is gathered, consolidate information to strengthen controls through automation and simplify subsidiary reporting requirements


REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5+ years of accounting experience with CA or CPA
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Experience with multiple entities with complex structures
  • Experience working with consolidation systems, preferably HFM
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships
  • Ability to handle large volume of work with tight deadlines, and ad-hoc requests as required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to describe complex accounting concepts
  • Strategic thinker with ability to think outside the box, to improve existing processes or the implementation of new processes
  • Strong project management skills and applies a pragmatic and efficient approach to handling complex assignments
