Electrical Engineer / Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in search of an Electrical Engineer/Technician in Lisle, IL. This role is currently 100% remote and will switch back to an office environment when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Overview: This is an opportunity to be involved in New Product Development efforts from concept to product launch of first to market consumer products. The Electrical Engineer/QA Technician will be responsible for building/testing prototypes and supporting the design of consumer electronic life safety products, such as Carbon Monoxide and smoke alarms. You will collaborate with cross-functional internal and external teams to develop amazing products that meet or exceed customer requirements. This will require a deep understanding of the user experience in order to develop features that are simple, elegant and that delight our customers. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to build, test and help debug consumer electronic product prototypes; The prototypes will consist of analog and digital circuit board assemblies that are assembled into plastic injection molded enclosures
  • Support the electrical bring-up, debug, and validation of analog and digital designs
  • Assemble mechanical prototypes and perform tests to validate design functionality
  • Work with internal teams and external contract manufacturers to bring products to mass production


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Engineering degree is not required but is a strong plus
  • CQE is not required but is a strong plus
  • 5 to 7 years of related industry experience
  • 5 to 7 years of experience assembling and testing consumer electronic products
  • 2 to 5 years of experience as quality engineer/technician in the consumer electronic products industry
  • 2 to 5 years of experience testing IoT products is a strong plus
  • Experience soldering through hole and SMT components
  • Experience with mechanical/electrical assembly for quick prototyping
  • Experience with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters
  • Experience testing analog and digital circuits and reporting bugs to FW/HW developers
  • Experience testing various peripheral interfaces (SDIO, I2C, SPI, RS232, Parallel and Serial/UART, storage) and reporting bugs to FW/HW developers
  • Experience evaluating designs for manufacturability and assembly in mass production
  • Experience testing and evaluating designs for user experience
  • Proficient in status reporting, communicating technical data/results and issues, impacts, and corrective actions
  • Experience with products that comply with UL1484, UL2034 and/or UL217 is a strong plus
  • Experience writing QA test plans and performing the duties of a Quality Engineer is a strong plus
  • PCB layout experience using PADS, Altium and/or OrCAD is not required, but is a strong plus
  • Experience in Waterfall and/or Agile NPD processes is a plus
