Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in search of a Director, Electrical Engineering (Medical Device) in Carlsbad, CA.Summary:The Director, Electrical Engineering (Medical Device) role is responsible for leading a group of technical staff members. The position is responsible for assessment and execution of tasks pertaining to the design and schematic capture of circuit boards including to but not limited to the following PCBAs: power, comm hub, Ultra Respin, Front Panel Interface Respin, & Source bring up for a complex medical device system that complies with IEC 60601 and all other relevant standards. Some responsibilities include system analysis, resource and project planning, and management of development activities for engineering staff to improve the performance, reliability, manufacturability, and testability of the systems.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical direction and management of the product teams in the execution of product launches including planning, product development, and V&V testing
  • Assess current state designs and provide strategic direction to staff in developing, managing, and execution of projects to significantly improve performance, reliability, manufacturability and testability of current design
  • Sets expectation of accountability, timely deliverables, execution of engineering and project development process to support the product roadmap
  • Troubleshoots, debugs, implements upgrades and design changes in the electronic interaction created in system integration
  • Asses current manufacturing methods and provide feedback and strategy for improvement
  • Collaborates with mechanical engineers and industrial design consultants to design usability, manufacturability and serviceability into future commercial designs
  • Initiates and maintains the debug process and procedures for manufacturing and field service personnel


Skills

  • Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience including at least 7 years of successful leadership experience and a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; Medical device and/or start up experience is preferred
  • Hands-on experience in electronics design, schematic capture (Orcad) and in Design of Experiments
  • Experience with low level analog circuits
  • Experience in and with Quality Control and Manufacturing Organizations
  • Proven track record of successful product commercial launch
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of the leading practices of a functional area and familiarity with several others; Fully understands and translates organization, business strategies, and company's goals to functional priorities
  • Viewed as a subject matter expert within specific area; Understands relevant business strategies and impact on the functional area
