Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in Madison, Wisconsin (WI) that is seeking a Database Architect to join their team.The successful candidate will:

  • Be assigned to complete data conversions from legacy grant administration database (Oracle 11g, 12c) to a new agency-wide system (eGrants System, SQL server database)
  • Develop scripts to convert grant program-specific datasets from Oracle 11g, 12c database to SQL database
  • Test, identify and correct errors, and communicate SQL database updates as necessary
  • Work collaboratively with SQL System Architects to make changes to database management system
  • Determine impact of SQL database changes on other system components through complex and detailed review of Entity Relationship Diagrams, workflow models and processes
  • Modifies database procedures to increase processing performance, referred to as performance tuning
  • Stay current with project business requirements and objectives, particularly as these relate to database architecture issues
  • Work remotely during COVID-19 pandemic, but eventually may be required to work onsite (at the central office in downtown Madison, WI)
  • Provide excellent communication, excellent time-management to complete tasks and assignments as directed and with moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment
  • Maintain excellent communication with Technology Services Section Chief, Project Manager and Business Analyst to ensure: business requirements are met, risks are identified and problem-solved, and status updates are provided in a timely manner


Skills

  • Have recent (within last 2 years) hands-on experience with Oracle 11g, 12c and SQL databases
  • Database Tuning and Maintenance to assure highest level of system availability and performance
  • Implement Database Objects and Files needed by Database Applications
  • Data flow and structure modeling
  • Data flow diagramming
  • Entity relationships
  • Experience in Data Conversion Projects
  • Knowledge of Oracle database management systems and principles, techniques and capabilities
  • MS SQL Server
  • Oracle; Knowledge of Oracle including stored procedures and SQL Tuning
  • Oracle Database
  • Oracle Exadata
  • SQL Server Management Studio
  • Stored procedures and triggers
  • Ability to document procedures, processes, guidelines, and data dictionaries for technical and non-technical users
  • Experience with ETL tools or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience with other data
