Catheter Mechanical Engineer

Kforce has a client in search of a Catheter Program Manager/Mechanical Engineer in Carlsbad, California (CA). This role is currently 100% remote and will switch back to an office environment when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Summary: The Catheter Program Manager/Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading cross-functional teams in the successful design and development of products to support the strategic plan; designs prototypes, and analyzes medical devices, equipment and associated processes and packaging. The Catheter Program Manager/Mechanical engineer conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. The candidate directs and manages development activities for engineering staff to support the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. This person also provides design information for documentation. Key Responsibilities: Following are the major results needed for the role; Additional responsibilities, tasks and duties will be assigned and required as needed:

  • Provides technical direction and management of personnel in the execution of product launches including planning, product development, and V&V testing
  • Sets expectation of accountability, timely deliverables, execution of engineering and project development for direct reports
  • Successfully performs both design and project tasks related to the design and manufacturing of disposable and electromechanical medical devices
  • Is responsible for research and development of new components, assemblies, and processes as needed
  • Leads the development and review of research and product development activities; assists in the build and test of engineering prototypes
  • Generates test protocols, performs tests, and generates reports for product design verification testing
  • Performs product packaging design tasks including the definition of constraints

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience including at least 5 years of successful leadership experience and a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working experience with SolidWorks and Catheters required
  • Experience with disposable medical device (catheters) assembly processing, rapid prototyping
  • In depth understanding of Design Controls, Verification, Validation and Design Transfer
  • Knowledge of sterilization processing
  • Basic understanding of Ultrasound technology preferred
  • Knowledge and awareness spans all aspects of the specific functional area; Enhances understanding and knowledge of how functional objectives support corporate objectives
  • Must be able to understand job duties and responsibilities, have the necessary skills/knowledge and be willing and able to continue learning and growing within the field
  • Must be skilled at managing a significant workload and obtaining positive results, taking on additional responsibility and managing priorities as needed
  • Must be accurate, detailed, committed to high quality standards and pro-active in finding solutions to achieve successful outcomes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate, punctual reports/information, as required and thoroughly share information with others; Must be able to read, write and speak effectively
