Accounts Payable Supervisor

Kforce is assisting a client in the Tampa, Florida (FL) area who is seeking an Accounts Payable Supervisor. Summary: The Accounts Payable Supervisor role is responsible for the accounts payable activities and processing and payment of invoices in a timely fashion. The candidate will be responsible for proper matching of purchasing and receiving documents, correct distribution to general ledger expense accounts, timely and accurate payments that make full use of available discounts; and proper filing and storage of records. You will apply policies and procedures and applicable local, state and federal requirements; measurers effectiveness and success of processes. Essential Job Duties

  • Lead, coach and develop Team Members responsible for payables
  • Provide timely performance feedback to direct reports (positive and constructive); Complete performance/evaluations, and ensure development and growth opportunities are provided to Team Members
  • Plan work schedules, assign duties, and evaluate work for accuracy, neatness and conformance to policies/procedures
  • Review and approve payments to vendors and employees (check runs)
  • Prepare and enforce guidelines for proper coding of invoices to general ledger expense accounts and updates to inventory records
  • Establish internal controls and guidelines for payables transactions
  • Monitor cash flow reports related to area and escalate information as necessary
  • Maintain accurate supplier and customer files and records, including review and approval of addition and changes to vendor master records
  • Analyze expense reports and other invoices for accuracy and eligibility for payment
  • Review and verify payments (checks and vouchers) before signer's signature is added
  • Reconcile accounts payable total and general ledger with other applicable records (e.g., subsidiary vendors ledger)

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor's in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
  • Five years of experience preferred
  • Prior accounts payable supervisory experience or equivalent accounts payable experience
  • Analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Experience in accounting software
  • Concur experience a plus
