Mgr/Sr. Mgr, CapEx Business Operations – Suzhou, China

 

Key Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering or working knowledge of finance
  • Impeccable communication, multi-tasking, and management skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 35-45%
  • 7 plus years of experience in Procurement including significant time managing capital equipment sourcing and/or procurement.
  • Effective management of capital buying projects within a manufacturing environment; RFP/RFQ, supplier selection, project execution, cost and timing management and project close activities.
  • Strong understanding of the financial aspects of capital expenditures, ROI, NPV, cash flow, total and total cost of ownership.
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional team leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level.
  • Strong analytical, research, and negotiation skills.

 

 

Role and Responsibilities:

 

  • The (Mgr/Sr. Mgr, CapEx Bus Ops) is responsible for leading the teams dedicated to coordinating equipment requirements between Ops Engineering and equipment suppliers 
  • Work with new product teams to support product launch and sustaining activities. 
  • Understand the impact of cycle time changes and be responsible for adjusting forecasts accordingly. 
  • Verify demands and lead the business team to ensure equipment is tracked to delivery. 
  • Work with appropriate business and procurement teams to ensure support from vendors regarding setup, installation, repairs and maintenance. 
  • Build overall project budget, compile budget requests, and generate capitalization plan based on project schedules. 
  • Respond quickly to changes to the overall goals, schedule, and/or architecture. 
  • Program managers are confident leaders capable of working with multi-functional teams to identify risks, explore solutions, reach consensus and execute mitigations quickly. This requires an in-depth understanding of development and manufacturing process.  
  • Develop and lead the sourcing and supplier selection process for capital equipment category to support manufacturing and operations goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement objectives and strategies that support the corporate capital spending plan.
  • Design and implement a corporate-wide Equipment Review Process.
  • Develop and lead functional teams to improve reliability of capital equipment.
  • Assess market conditions, identify industry best practices and emerging trends to identify
  • new cost reduction and value creation opportunities.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to find, assess, and select suppliers that
  • will improve value to the organization and help attain targeted business results. 
  • Negotiate and implement appropriate contracts with suppliers.
  • Establish and implement procurement policies with suppliers to ensure quality, delivery,
  • and cost improvements including KPI’s and scorecards.

 

Key Attributes Necessary for Success:

  • Ability to develop and implement a well-thought-out sourcing strategy.
  • Ability to drive aggressive implementation plans and schedules.
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement and business operations, systems, organizational structure, performance metrics (KPI) and supply base.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. (Mandarin language skills are a plus).
  • Finance/business acumen (understand cost drivers and ability to derive costs associated with managing quality). 
  • Reliability methods and quality sampling methodologies Third party production quality & process management experience working with customers.  
  • Project management experience.
  • Drive multi-functional teams towards consensus of requirements 
  • Calculate value of change in process/equipment requested by OEM or internal teams 
  • Provide monthly/quarterly budget updates and capitalization plan 
  • Succinctly communicate overall equipment status to the management team 
  • Travel to support early project planning

Education:

  • BA/BS Degree; MBA preferred. (Degree in Supply Chain Management or Engineering is preferred).
  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience and 5+ years of people management.
