As an Aerosols Modeler within the Engineering Simulation organization you will be responsible for testing, refining and applying computational fluid dynamics (CFD) aerosol models that characterize the nucleation, transport, and deposition of aerosol particles. This candidate will work with the physical chemistry group and CFD development team. The candidate is a high energy, enthusiastic, effective individual contributor working to lead R&D projects. You will be working hands-on alongside other scientists in the lab, developing novel methodologies, furthering basic understanding of aerosol physics, conducting experiments to characterize JUUL and other products, and assisting the engineering team to design, analyze and test prototypes.


  • Test and refine CFD physical models such as nucleation, condensation, evaporation coagulation, and phase change
  • Research other aerosol implementations and improve upon the state of the art
  • Develop a plan for validating the simulation models
  • Prioritize required validation data and liaise with testing group
  • Advise on best approach for integrating aerosol model with our vaporization and PBPK models
  • Adhere to project schedules with project manager and team lead
  • Lead cross functional communication between project teams and external vendors
  • Provide timely issue resolution and critical path management
  • Offer multiple levels of status across a wide spectrum of individual contributors to executive management
  • Knowledge and understanding of aerosol characterization techniques
  • CFD modeling experience preferred
  • Some development experience required in common programming languages such as C, C++, FORTRAN
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Exceptional English language communication skills
  • Ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience
  • Self motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
  • Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles; remains flexible and calm in the face of ambiguity


 Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in engineering or physical chemistry, on a topic related to aerosols.
