The Jonah Group is searching for Big Data Developers with experience designing and developing enterprise solutions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and hands-on development of big data solutions
  • Interface with IT and business to understand functional and non-functional requirements and map these into the big data solution
  • Implementation of new features, mappings, and workflows
  • Design and development of data model and ETL implementations to support new data feeds
  • Create documentation and document all developed mappings
  • Mentoring team members on various big data technologies and best practices
  • Organize and participate in code reviews
  • Ability to prioritize, estimate, and deliver results for competing activities on time and within budget

Your Preferred Profile:

  • 3+ years of enterprise level experience in the design, development, and implementation of big data solutions
  • Solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals, BI, and Big Data platforms
  • Proven experience working with big data components such as Hadoop, Spark, Scala, Pig, Hive, Sqoop, Flume, HBase, and MapReduce
  • Experienced with Java and multithreaded application development
  • Hands-on experience designing relational OLTP and OLAP databases on leading platforms, and implementing associated SQL scripts and stored procedures
  • Ability to implement and address operational issues (e.g. scripting and monitoring in Big Data environments)
  • Strong Linux experience, including bash knowledge and scripting experience (e.g. Python)
  • Experience in designing and developing unit test systems and cases

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in software consulting
  • Capital Markets experience, particularly in middle-office risk management
  • Bachelor’s Degree or better in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering
