  • This role will lead RW V&E strategy development and execution for multiple external stakeholders including Payers/IDNS, HCPs, Patient Advocacy etc; and the building of industry leading capabilities and talent across Janssen US.
  • This individual will work closely with Brand Teams (Presidents), SCG(CSCO) and US New Products, Business Development, Alliances to drive the transformation to optimize US life cycle planning strategies (including pipeline and launch) through innovative and highly strategic decisions and investments.
  • This individual will sit on the NA Medical and Scientific Affairs (MeSA) LC, the Janssen Scientific Affairs LT, the Value & Evidence LT, the Janssen RWE LC, and the Janssen Market Access LC and will interact regularly with other leaders across NA and Global in support of US V&E and/or RWE initiatives.
  • This individual is responsible for the development of all employees within the department by supporting the development of Human Resources Planning (HRP) programs including management development and training to meet current and future business needs.   • This individual will report directly to the Chief Scientific Officer, NA, and partner closely with other CoE LT members.

Real World Value & Evidence (60%)

Responsible for leading the development and execution of industry leading Real World Value & Evidence strategy and capabilities inclusive of Population Health research across US

  • Defines the shared need, business case and vision for RW V&E with key stakeholders across NA
  • Determines the key competencies, processes, organization, funding and systems required to build an industry leading RW V&E capability
  • Develops strategy for the generation and utilization of RWE to demonstrate the value and enhance differentiation of our key brands to multiple stakeholders including Payers/IDNs/HCPs/Patient Advocacy
  • Interfaces with Medical Affairs, SCG, VESE, GCSO, Legal, HCC, in the development of the RWE strategy and guidelines for generation and usage.
  • Effectively navigates technology, analytical, legal and privacy complexities to achieve objectives.
  • Represents the US to Global Market Access and Partners with Canada and other countries as appropriate
  • Maintain strong relationships with external partners including academic epidemiologists, health economists and statisticians, data (claims, EHRs, registries) and analytics experts, technology platform experts and other key external stakeholders
  • Be a technical leader for the RWV&E team by defining data and analytics strategies for specific projects
  • Identify and share best practices regarding methods for observational research
  • Contributes scientifically to policy discussions related to value and access as needed.
  • Further expand the internal Janssen/J&J knowledge and capacity to use evolving methodologies in observational research, using various training approaches and best practice sharing
  • Contribute to refining governance processes and contributing to local and global standards in methodologies
  • Develops strategy for the generation and utilization of population health research to enhance patient health outcomes
  • Effectively navigates, legal, privacy, procurement and contracting complexities to compliantly achieve objectives in a timely fashion
  • Identifies health system engagement opportunities
  • Leads and shapes evidence generation efforts in support of Race to Health Equity

Responsible for Real World Research and Real World Market Access Analytics - US (30%)

  • Develop the key competencies, processes, organization, funding and systems required to build an industry leading RWD & Analytics capability
  • Innovate methodology/ technology to support state of the art analytic capability
  • Ensure scientifically and methodologically rigorous analyses are used for observational studies addressing medical, scientific, economic and outcomes research questions
  • Develop strategy and portfolio of standard and innovative approaches for market acess analyses, payer requests and RWE
  • Build external relationships with thought leaders and research partners
  • Execute analyses for market access, payers and proprietary initiaitives as well as supporting key evidence initiatives in the US and specialized analyses supporting LATAM and Canada.

Real World Alliances - US (10%)

  • Develops strategy for the accessibility, acquisition and utilization of data and to enable state of the art RWE across our key brands
  • Develop strategy for Alliances and research partnerships to foster innovation and capabilities
  • Effectively navigates, legal, privacy, procurement and contracting complexities to compliantly achieve objectives in a timely fashion
  • Identify novel opportunities and pilot novel roles in the RW Data space

Talent and Development

  • Build and grow a diverse team of experts with deep RWE expertise and business acumen
  • Lead a team through coaching, inspiring and developing the talent in the growing capability area
  • Set standards of excellence for the team by demonstrating professional expertise, strong work ethic, integrity and professional behavior.
  • Greater than >60 Direct and Indirect Reports / NA Pharm/Global
  • Travel up to 40% of the time


Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of an Advanced degrees in Quantitative, Economics or Related field
  • Minimum of 15 or more years healthcare experience
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and shape key opinions internally and externally
  • Prior experience in leading large scale organizational change efforts and leading in matrix environment
  • Visionary leadership, preferably demonstrated in different business environments and models
  • Experience of driving strategic change to meet changing business needs, and exploring new business models.
  • Experience with RWE in a commercial, medical affairs, scientific affairs and/or R&D environment is required
  • Expert knowledge in RWE, epidemiology, health economics and outcomes research, statistical and/or other quantitative methods and predictive modelling frameworks and techniques is required
  • Strong technical domain know-how to lead, coach and grow a team required
  • Demonstrated ability to influence in a large and matrixed organization required
  • Experience to develop, communicate, advocate and execute a strategy required
  • Proven experience in prioritizing and managing a complicated portfolio of projects required
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset required
  • Expertise as a methodologist for observational studies (prospective and retrospective) from design through conduct, analysis and reporting required
  • Experience leading highly functioning statistical and/or analytical experts in a direct-reporting or matrixed-reporting manner required
  • Expertise working with claims databases and electronic medical (health) records required
  • Significant prior publication track record in epidemiology, clinical, statistical and/or health economic journals required
  • Experience interacting with academia, health systems and/or payers required
  • Excellent communication and training skills required
  • Experience with programming in major statistical analysis systems, such as SAS and R preferred
  • Firm understanding of the uses of evidence-based medicine and comparative effectiveness analyses for health policy decision-making preferred
  • Management of analytical and statistical activities of external service providers preferred
  • Experience working in multiple therapeutic areas preferred
  • Travel up to 40% of the time

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: MIN: $199,000 - MID $365,700
