Systems Integration and Test EGSE Engineer

Job Summary: The Systems Integrations and Test EGSE Engineer will work as part of a team of software and hardware engineers in the complete development life cycle of Spacecraft Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and Special Test Equipment (STE) supporting various programs. To support on the job training and career development, a mentoring relationship will be established between the candidate and a senior engineer within the Group.


  1. Researches, designs, develops, and tests Electronic Test Systems for Space hardware. Includes communications equipment and systems; analog and digital circuitry; computers; and control and COTS test equipment. Technologies may include Power, Analog, Digital, RF, Antenna and Test Software development. Responsible for design, debug, maintenance and repair of Test Systems.

  2. The design engineer will be responsible for hardware and software through the full product life cycle (design, fabrication, debug, integration test and maintenance support).

  3. EGSE Engineer will interact with Spacecraft Subsystem Leads to define and document requirements for EGSE and STE.

  4. Perform and Coordinate EGSE manufacturing.

  5. Interact with program or technical leads for development and prioritization of tasks.

  6. The EGSE Engineer may act as an I&T Integration Engineer or Test Conductor after delivery of the program EGSE.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Science Engineering or equivalent.
  • Must have Electrical Hardware and Software design experience.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing project planning, scheduling, resource management, materials ordering, inventory management, and quality functions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as both a team leader and a team member.Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to demonstrate problem solving skills. Ability to successfully multitask.
  • Must be well organized, team oriented, have high initiative, work well with others, and communicate effectively with all levels within the organization. Must be able to develop effective working relationships with engineering and program management.
  • Familiarity with MIL standards and requirements, AS9100 or ISO 9001 experience.
  • Must have a positive attitude and be able to plan and prioritize work effort and quickly respond to issues and questions.
  • Familiarity with digital multi-meters, source measurement units, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, counter/timers, and function/waveform generators.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience in spacecraft Electrical Ground Support Equipment and Special. Test Equipment, and Integration of electrical components to harness and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE).
  • Experience in Spacecraft Integration and Test and Launch Operations.
  • Knowledge of dynamic digital IO.
  • Familiarity with: FPGA based testing techniques; PXI controllers, Data Acquisition / Data Logger Switch Units, Network Switches; MIL-STD-1553, UART, RS422, and SpaceWire requirements and protocols; LabVIEW software
  • L3 InControl Software: experience in developing Test Scripts and Test Conducting of aerospace hardware.

Special Working Conditions: Work in clean rooms. Some travel required. Occasional long hours, working shifts, and weekend work may be required.
