Software Engineer for RF Modeling

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Software Developer/Engineer for a modeling and simulation effort in the RF domain.

Job Summary: Apply software engineering skills and work as part of a team of software developers, systems engineers and analysts to help design and develop modeling and simulation (M&S) software applications, support analysis of radio frequency systems, and other electronic warfare M&S projects in Force Projection Sector.

Duties:

  • Design, develop, test and document software applications for modeling radar systems. (70%)
  • Interface with other system developers, and analysis team members to determine software requirements. (20%)
  • Develop technical documentation for all deliverables and brief results to development and analysis teams. (10%)

Required Qualifications: BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field with 1 - 4 years of relevant experience in software development and software engineering. Strong experience in programming with Java, C/C and XML, with a focus on developing applications. Proficient in the setup and use of software version control and issue tracking tools (SVN, GIT, Youtrack, Gforge, etc.), automated software build-test tools (teamcity, etc.) and modern IDE (Eclipse or Equivalent). Applicant should possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work independently, as well as a member of a team. Must be able to clearly communicate technical information, written and orally, as well as possess good organizational and time management skills.

Desired Qualifications: MS and/or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field. Strong unit testing experience, and experience with documenting program flow (UML), GUI development, and Agile software development process, as well as experience optimizing code. A background with physics based M&S of analog and digital radio frequency systems.

Special Working Conditions: Work will be performed in closed area(s).

Security: Secret Clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information up to the Secret level. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
