The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, is located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Software Engineer.
Job Summary: Responsible for software development tasks including backend logic/models, GUIs, and physics based system models and simulations for various projects within several programs.
- Implement production code and unit tests (60%)
- Assist with design of software products(20%)
- Deploy software to end user systems (10%)
- Interface with testers to ensure they can properly test the product (10%)

B. S. or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering and at least 5 years relevant professional level experience to include strong grasp of object oriented design practices, full life-cycle development via the agile development process, and software deployment practices. Applied experience in C . Familiarity with C 11 and 14 standards. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Must work effectively in a team environment and be able to multi-task and support multiple development projects concurrently. The ideal candidate should have strong initiative, creativity, breadth of experience, and a love of learning.
Special Working Conditions: Some US travel may be required, not likely to exceed a few trips per year with no more than four days in duration for each.
Security: Secret Clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information up to the Secret level. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
