The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Software Developer.
Blend industry best practices and the latest research to develop innovative, cutting-edge software prototype solutions to challenging problems. Tools will be used for cyber, social media and deep learning research. Participate in small development teams that design, implement, test, document and maintain web applications to meet sponsor requirements.
- Understand existing systems and emergent sponsor requirements to develop integrated, holistic solutions. Research best practices and industry standards. Design, implement, test, and maintain software solutions. (80%)
- Document research approaches, development artifacts and results. (10%)
- Seek out new and innovative ways to complete tasking more efficiently. Explore promising new research and maintain/gain technical edge required for projects. Establish relationships across organizational boundaries to increase collaboration. Share approaches and methods. (10%)

B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, with zero to three years of practical experience developing software using MATLAB, Python, C# or Java. Experience working successfully within a team environment either at school or in the workplace. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to obtain up to a Top Secret clearance.
Special Working Conditions: Some limited travel to customer sites may be required.
