Senior Cyber Operations Analyst


The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Senior Cyber Operations Analyst.

Job Summary:

Analyze, assess, design, and prototype military systems and architectures to be mission robust and resilient in the face of cyber attacks.

Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent at each task):

  • Analyze and assess mission system risk due to cyber attacks; analyze, evaluate, design, and prototype solutions that will improve mission robustness and resiliency. (70%)
  • Communicate, through oral presentations and written documentation, results of cyber analyses and assessments to sponsors at different experience/ technical levels of expertise. (20%)
  • Lead the development of new processes and concepts for analyzing mission-cyber assurance including metrics, algorithms and modeling and simulation. (10%)

Required Qualifications:

B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields. 10 years experience with physical systems or military network systems architecture, design, and cybersecurity solutions. Strong systems engineering skills with a working knowledge of computer and network architectures. Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work both independently and on teams. Requires a Top Secret clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

M.S/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields. 10 years experience with physical systems or military systems architecture, design, and cybersecurity solutions. Familiarity with full life cycle system engineering process and/or applied research. Working knowledge of IO/IA techniques, network modeling/simulation, and evaluation of cyber architectures. Demonstrated team leadership or project management skills.

Special Working Conditions: Occasional travel required (<10%). Some work required in closed areas.

Security: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
