Research Analyst - MATLAB / Python / C++
Introduction: The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Research Analyst to join the Advanced Concepts & Technologies (A3G) group.
Duties: Research Analyst will support the evaluation and development of next generation Air & Missile Defense technologies & concepts.
1.Perform analytical studies to evaluate the capacity of feasible next generation concepts, technologies, and systems in the Ballistic Missile Defense & Electronic Warfare domain areas. Execute large-scale high-fidelity models & simulations in support of analytical studies.
2.Participate in or propose new analyses or development projects that address capability gaps in current or proposed systems.
3.Collaborate with software development engineers to implement new algorithms in current modeling tools. Propose ideas for new modeling tools as necessary.
4.Present results of analyses to technical staff, management, and sponsors.
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, or related field.
- 3 years of relevant technical experience.
- Proficiency in data analysis and tools such as MATLAB, Python, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of C++. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to obtain an interim Secret clearance prior to starting.
Desired Qualifications: Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, or related field. Minimum of 1 years of relevant technical experience. Experience working with sensor data (IR and/or RF) and related phenomenology strongly desired. Familiarity with probability theory strongly desired. Knowledge of the Ballistic Missile Defense or Electronic Warfare domain areas. Prior experience executing large-scale models & simulations. Familiarity with Monte Carlo methods. Knowledge of XML. Active Secret clearance.
Special Working Conditions: 5% travel, working in closed areas.
Security: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
