The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Radio Scientist.
Develop radio science techniques for ionospheric and atmospheric applications and research. Conduct basic research in radio science with focus on ionospheric and atmospheric physics.
- Individual and collaborative research on ionospheric and atmospheric effects on radio wave propagation.
- Development of novel, low-cost radio remote sensing instrumentation.
- Communication of scientific results at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
- Development of sponsored research program(s).

Earned doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Radio Science, Computer Science, Space Physics, Astronomy, or a closely-related field, with at least 2 years of experience post-PhD in a field relevant to ionospheric or atmospheric radio science.
Basic electronic and systems engineering skills, use of basic hand tools, and test equipment.
Experience in a field environment. Ability to innovate and develop prototype instrumentation and modes under field conditions.
Experience with antenna and array design, fabrication, or signal processing.
Knowledge of advanced signal processing and estimation techniques.
