Radar Algorithm Design Analyst
The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, is seeking a Radar Design Analyst to join a team that is creating innovative solutions to challenges facing the development of our nation's missile defense system radars.
Job Summary: Exercise your creativity and technical skills to develop improvements in our nation's missile defense radars. Specifically, perform trade studies, assess design sensitivities, develop new concepts and algorithms and work with contractors to see them implemented in deployed tactical systems.
- Conduct algorithm trade studies and sensitivity analyses of radar systems by executing a high fidelity M&S tool suite, performing analyses across large volumes of data, assessing algorithm performance, producing appropriate data visualizations, and documenting relevant findings.
- Contribute to radar model and simulation development to support analytical tasks by identifying opportunities for developing novel M&S capabilities and participating in code design, development, integration, and/or testing.
- Support the development and testing of algorithm innovations and advanced concepts to address needs found during design margin and sensitivity analysis.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Applied Math/Physics, or equivalent. 1-5 years of coursework or professional experience in the following: signal processing, statistical pattern recognition, and/or algorithm design. Strong organizational skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Desire to make a difference.
Desired Qualifications: Master's degree and proficiency in algorithm prototyping, including software development. Extensive knowledge of MATLAB and Java.
Special Working Conditions: Occasional travel to meet with government sponsors, contractors, and other laboratory organizations.
