Military Systems Senior Cybersecurity Systems Engineer
The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Military Systems Senior Cybersecurity Systems Engineer.
Provide engineering and operational expertise in support of analyzing, developing, implementing, and testing for Cybersecurity solutions and capabilities applied to Combat Systems, C4I systems, HM&E systems, and other relevant platform network and computing environments. Emphasis is towards providing solutions appropriately utilizing technology, people, and training and processes including contingency and continuity options to achieve the most effective, robust and resilient systems against nation-tiered adversaries.
Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent at each task):
- Lead technical teams towards developing solutions robust and resilient in the presence of adverse cyber environments through leveraging subject matter expertise on military systems, operations, acquisition, and development. (40%)
- Analyze developing cyber requirements, architecture, design, and fielded products to evolve current systems and provide future systems performance in the presence of accelerating evolution of cyber adversaries (40%)
- Contribute in strategy and concept development for new system solutions considering cyber concerns and constraints with all other system constraints (20%)

B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields with 6 years of experience designing, operating or maintaining physical or military systems with complex computational and processing dependencies. Demonstrated knowledge of current cybersecurity standards, information assurance, or computer network operations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to work in diverse-skilled teams as a leader and a contributor. Proven demonstration as a critical thinker developing solutions to complex problems. Requires a Top Secret clearance.
M.S/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields with 10 or more years experience with physical or military systems architecture, design, and cybersecurity solutions. Detailed technical understanding and operational/maintenance experience with military C4I, combat, and HM&E systems is advantageous. Experience with full life cycle system engineering process and/or applied research. Working knowledge of IO/IA techniques, network modeling/simulation, and evaluation of cyber architectures. Demonstrated team leadership or project management skills. Proven demonstration as a critical thinker developing strategy and solutions to solving complex problems. Active Top Secret clearance.
Special Working Conditions: Occasional travel required (<10%). Some work required in closed areas.
Security: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
