The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC.
Job Summary: To provide cleaning and maintenance services to the Laboratory. Employees will perform housekeeping duties for more than 40,000 square feet of office and technical facilities. Some activities require pushing/pulling trash receptacles and equipment (with wheels) weighing up to 40 lbs.
Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent at each task):
- Collect trash from offices, restrooms, and lobbies. (45%)
- Restock supplies and clean toilet rooms (20%)
- Mop and strip floors (restrooms, stairwells, lobbies). (15%)
- Vacuum and perform carpet cleaning services (15%)
- Dust and wipe furniture and vents (5%)

Ability to read and write in basic English and to follow instructions. Ability to interact well with peers and different levels throughout the Laboratory. Demonstrated custodial maintenance abilities as outlined above and prior professional experience in these areas. Must be capable of lifting and moving moderately heavy objects (50 lbs or less). Applicants will be subject to Background Investigation and Evaluation.
Special Working Conditions [Travel, working in closed areas, extended hours]: Shift 5:30 am to 2:00 pm. Safety shoes required
