Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory

Embedded Systems Software Engineer

The Electro-Optical and Infrared Seeker Hardware Systems Group of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory's (APL) Air and Missile Defense Sector engages in innovative research, development, design, fabrication, test, evaluation and analysis of EO/IR sensors, seekers and instrumentation systems for a broad range of applications. Team members are able to develop their technical depth and breadth by solving relevant, real-world problems involving a wide range of technology including IR missile seekers, EO/IR imaging systems, fiber-optic and planar waveguide-based sensors, telemetry systems, cryogenic vacuum space chambers, scene rendering computer systems, EO/IR scene projection systems and UAVs.

Job Summary: We are seeking a creative, energetic engineer to assist in the development of embedded software used in a complex hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulation for a missile seeker that plays a vital role in our nation's ballistic missile defense. In this position, you will develop real-time software that controls a simulation of a missile and interfaces with seeker hardware. You will use your skills to integrate HWIL systems, including all hardware, software, and interfaces, and support the development of new technologies and future advanced test configurations. Our sponsors rely on us to architect, develop and integrate unique, state-of-the-art test capabilities for current and next-generation missile systems. If you share our enthusiasm for being part of this dynamic team, then we'd like to hear from you.
