Electronic Warfare Analyst
The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking an experienced EW Analyst.
Job Summary: Provide technical leadership to conduct and lead systems engineering and analysis (e.g., concept definition, concept feasibility studies, requirements development, performance analysis, simulation development) for the development of Electronic Warfare (EW) systems.
Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent at each task):
- Lead and participate in system and system of systems analyses and trade studies that lead to the definition of tactics and control mechanisms for current and future Navy Surface EW systems in support of ship self-defense and battle force defense. Develop needed system concepts through the assessment of current and future defense capabilities against projected threat capabilities. Perform analysis of alternatives and trade studies to predict performance. Produce documentation to capture concept definition, system requirements, technical recommendations, and analysis results. Develop and modify tools, models and simulations to enable analysis efforts. Perform predictive analyses of EW capabilities. Model development may include both medium fidelity system representations and high fidelity models. Lead and participate in multi-organization working groups to review results, define concepts, propose solutions, and coordinate analyses. Coordinate efforts with APL staff and government Sponsors. - Deliver formal presentations to Sponsors and the engineering community to effectively communicate proposed concepts, solutions, and engineering results. (10%)

Required Qualifications: BS in Engineering, Physics, Applied Math, Computer Science or equivalent. Candidates must have at least eight (4) years of progressive operational military experience and responsibilities in EW or signal intelligence/analysis with advanced certification consistent with relevant NEC descriptions (e.g., 1781, 9141, 9168) and successful experience leading analysis and/or engineering team efforts. Ability to work independently and with government and DoD Sponsors and analysis teams. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
Desired Qualifications: Candidate would meet required qualifications plus have at least five (5) additional years of progressive operational responsibilities and accomplishments related to Navy ship defense in at least two of the following: the AN/SLQ-32 Electronic Warfare (EW) suite including Nulkaand chaff decoy employment, defensive missiles, Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) and Aegis Combat System. Active Top Secret and SCI clearances.
Special Working Conditions:
Domestic travel to Sponsor and contractor facilities for meetings and reviews (could be 20%). Possible occasional support of test events involving extended hours, travel aboard ships, and travel to field-test sites.
Security: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
