Combat Effectiveness Analyst
Introduction: The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Combat Effectiveness Analyst.
Job Summary: Analyst to participate in detailed effectiveness studies in a multi-mission warfare environment. A successful candidate will be working primarily in the domain of modeling and simulation, tracking and data fusion especially in the general area of Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS). IADS simulation development may include target association, tracking, and engagement, as well as metrics needed to assess the simulation's effectiveness.
- Participate in studies and analyses as an individual contributor in a small team setting (60%)
- Lead studies and analyses including study planning, tasking, and budgeting (30%)
- Develop and present formal briefing materials to technical experts, operational stakeholders, and sponsors (5%)
- Write technical reports (5%)

Required Qualifications: PhD (or ABD) in Applied mathematics/Physics or other highly analytical math-driven discipline requiring modeling and simulation capabilities, with minimally 5 years of relevant defense related experience. Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. Proficient in scientific software developer (e.g., C , Python, Matlab, Java, Python, etc.).
Desired Qualifications: 5 years in development or analysis of Multitarget Tracking or Command and Control Systems. Experience in Modeling and Simulation Analysis, C , OOP / Patterns , Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Linux, Windows, Git, Fortran, Multi Target Tracking and Filtering.
Special Working Conditions: Air and vehicle travel to U.S. Government and DOD contractor facilities.
Security: Top Secret Clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for an SSBI and access to classified information. Preference for current SSBI. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
