Application Security Engineering Intern

2017 Application Security Engineering Intern

Jive Software is the leading provider of modern communication and collaboration solutions for business. Our products empower people and organizations to work better together, using technology that adapts to their way – not the other way. The world's best companies depend on Jive to unleash the ideas and impact of their employees, partners and customers.

We're all about working better together inside Jive, too. If you're looking for a fun, inspiring environment where people love their work and do some of the best work of their lives, this is it.

The Security Engineering Intern will the team implement automated tests to detect new security vulnerabilities in the Jive platform, such as cross-site scripting. The intern is expected to have a working knowledge of Javascript, and will learn application security topics such as vulnerabilities, common exploits, security controls, and secure coding practices.

Position is located in Portland, Oregon.

The project is to develop automated tests for our product to detect security problems that may have been introduced in new versions. This automation will be done primarily in Javascript using a framework such as Selenium or PhantomJS. The goal of the intern will be to examine a page in Jive, consider possible vulnerabilities, and then write tests to detect those vulnerabilities. This will be repeated for pages of increasing complexity, elementally leading to a robust suit of tests. During the project, we will teach the intern new types of vulnerabilities and exploits they can try to detect, as well as the ways to prevent them. This work will be valuable to the application security team, as we will be able to run the tests developed against all future releases of Jive.
